Africa Day is celebrated on May 25 in Africa and the rest of the world. It is named after a remarkable conference of African Countries that strive for independence held in Addis Ababa from May 23 to May 25, 1963 to establish an Organization of African Unity with a goal of achieving freedom of all African countries and a dream of eliminating African differences, preaching unity, and making Africa a continent of peace and prosperity.

Africa Day Initiative is a civil organization, certified and registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Authority for Civil Society Organizations on September 28, 2022, which was established to contribute to the realization of the dreams of our founding fathers of the Organization of African Unity, by playing a significant role of bringing Africans  together for a common goal of achieving social, economic and political integration.

Africa Day Initiative is working on commemorating the upcoming 60^th Anniversary of Africa Day with a grand festivity with the aim of celebrating it regularly every year. We also advocate Africa Day to be a national holiday not only in Ethiopia, but also the whole of Africa as a great manifestation yet Africa’s fate is all tied up together. Addis Ababa as a political capital of Africa shall host great festivities  so that Africans and other friends of Africa can celebrate this great day in Addis Ababa every year.

Different events like Panel Discussion, Art Exhibition, Music Concert, Great African Run and African Culture Fashion show shall be held in this festival in the African Capital, Addis Ababa.
